Think about the last time something small set you off. A comment that stung more than it should have. A driver who cut you off. A message left on read for longer than felt fair. In that moment, did you choose your reaction — or did it simply happen to you, faster than thought, before you'd even decided anything at all?
For almost all of us, most of the time, it's the second one. Life presents something, and we respond automatically — through anger, fear, frustration, or withdrawal — without ever actually choosing. We call it "losing our temper," and the phrase is more accurate than we usually notice.
Meditation, at its core, isn't about achieving some special mental state, or emptying your mind of thought, or becoming a different, calmer person. It's something much simpler, and much more useful: it's the practice of creating a gap — a small space between something happening, and how you respond to it.
This is a preview of Day 5. The full lesson continues with the research behind why meditation works, a guided practice to begin, and the full Soul Frequency theta session — plus all 7 days and the video for each.
